FLYING EAGLES COACH, PAUL AIGBOGUN , ARRESTED IN LONDON

Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun, could be in hot water with his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), following his arrest by the London Police for public disturbance.

Aigbogun, who lives in North West London, was arrested by the London Police outside a woman’s house at 6am on Friday, December 28 on charges of domestic violence and being five times over the legal alcohol limit.

Report has it that the former Warri Wolves manager has family in North West London and lives there usually when he’s not on national assignment.

It is understood that Aigbogun goes around the woman’s house uninvited very late at night, drunk, and bangs in the door screaming her name for hours until she is forced to open up.

Prior to his arrest, the Neighborhood Watch were aware of the situation and they were concerned about hearing the woman scream so often.

The Flying Eagles coach has been labelled an alcoholic and abusive man who is not fit to be a role model and shouldn’t be around young players.

Aigbogun previously worked for Enyimba.

The source said the officer who led troops into the forest was captured by bandits.

“We ran into an ambush in the forest today. The bandits opened fire on us and we responded but they surrounded us from different directions,” he said. “They had bombs and sophisticated weapons.”

VIDEO SHOWING PRESIDENT BUHARI'S LACK OF REGRET IN OUSTING SHAGARI'S GOVT RESURFACES ONLINE.

A video in which President Muhammadu Buhari said he did not regret ousting President Shehu Shagari through a military coup has resurfaced just as Buhari has flown to Sokoto State to commiserate with Shagari’s family.

In the video, which was an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme which was recorded in December 2014, Buhari said he had no regret removing Shagari, adding that a democratic government that is corrupt can be overthrown.

When asked if he was sorry for ousting Shagari’s government, Buhari said, “No. I am not sorry because I mentioned why we did it and we proved our case.”

When reminded of the fact that the coup veered Nigeria off the course of democratic advancement, Buhari said, “So, when you are a democracy, you are entitled to steal the country dry and put our people in a pauperised position and destroying institutions and destroying infrastructure?”

However, when asked if he blames Shagari solely for the corruption, Buhari responded: “Don’t personalise it. I will blame the Second Republic for that.”

The video, which has been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter, attracted comments from a wide range of persons.

Expectedly, many persons have tagged Buhari and his media aides to the video.

Reacting to Shagari’s death on Friday, the President said on his official Twitter handle that he would miss the former President who was a man of integrity.

He wrote, “I mourn the departure of a patriot, who served Nigeria with humility, integrity and diligence. Nigerians held him in the highest esteem even when he was out of office, until his demise, and will forever miss his wise counsels.”

However, a former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, said Buhari’s condolence message would be watery without an apology.

Odinkalu said Shagari was a man of peace and forgiveness, adding that as President, he pardoned a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, who had been on exile after being implicated in the assassination of Gen. Murtala Muhammed.

He noted that Shagari also pardoned Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, the leader of the defunct Biafran Republic who was also on exile.

Odinkalu wrote, “I’m not holding my breath but I’d have thought that the death of President Shagari is a perfect opportunity for the man who toppled a popularly elected govt on Dec 31, 1983 to apologise for that crime. Saying all these nice things now risks being branded insincere or cynical

“President Shagari did four remarkable things to bring the wounds of Nigeria: First he pardoned Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, 1982; he pardoned Yakubu Gowon, 1981; he pardoned Michael Okpara, 1981 and he granted Nigeria’s highest civilian honour, GCFR, to Obafemi Awolowo, 1981.”

Some other Twitter users wondered why Buhari would topple Shagari’s government and put him on house arrest for nearly two years if the latter was a man of honour as claimed by Buhari in his condolence message.

Meanwhile, Buhari has flown to Sokoto State to commiserate with the family of the late President who was buried on Saturday.

In a tweet on Sunday, Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad, posted a picture of his principal boarding the Presidential jet with the caption, “President Buhari leaving Abuja for Sokoto, on a condolence visit to the state government and family of former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari over his death.”

HAMZAT IS A COMPULSIVE LIAR, SAYS GOODLUCK JONATHAN'S AIDE

The Office of former President Jonathan has dismissed as a blatant lie, the claim by the running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, that he rejected a $5million bribe from former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Ikechukwu Eze, media adviser to the former President stressed that Jonathan had never met Mr. Hamzat who he said was not relevant in the politics of 2015 elections.

Describing Hamzat as a compulsive liar, Eze stated that Hamzat does not possess the character for the office he now seeks.

Below is the full statement:

Re: $5m bribe claim: Hamzat’s blatant lie against ex-President Jonathan

Our attention has been drawn to a claim by the running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, that he rejected a $5million bribe from former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 elections.

There is no better way to respond to this frivolous claim than to quickly dismiss it as a blatant lie apparently concocted by a wannabe politician desperate for votes in a campaign season.

In the first place this character is an obscure individual who in 2015 had neither a recognizable name nor political clout. The point has to be clearly made that former President Jonathan has never met this man who was obviously not relevant in the national politics of 2015, let alone seek to offer him bribe.

If the former President did not offer anyone bribe, having clearly acquitted himself as a man who does not believe in desperate politics, how on earth could he have sought to compromise an individual he didn’t even know and who obviously had no means of helping him politically?

Assuming anybody had $5 million dollars to spend to better his political fortune as Mr. Hamzat claimed, why seek to waste it on man who was just a commissioner prior to 2015, and whose best outing so far is to function as a hand-picked running mate to a governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2019 elections?

His is obviously the antics of a desperate and dishonest politician seeking to apply subterfuge and outright lies, believing that such could boost his lowly image, win for him public sympathy and possibly, votes. It is the action of people like Hamzat that conjures up in the minds of Nigerians the Biblical ‘Mark of the Beast’ to the effect that to be accepted in his party, one must be adept at telling lies.

If this is how Mr. Hamzat wishes to anchor his own political doctrine on lies and name dropping, he should be reminded that those who follow this route do not go far either in politics or personal growth. This definitely should not be the character and colour of a person who wants to become a governor or deputy governor of a state, lest we lose all hope in the expectation that we have all it takes to rescue our country from the bleak future that stares it in the face.

What we know about liars is that they always leave a loose end which readily exposes them for who they are. Otherwise, Mr. Hamzat should have been bold enough to tell Nigerians where the money was presented to him and in whose presence the offer was made. We have always made the point that there should be a limit to these lies, if we must make progress as a democratic nation. Nigerians are not fools. It is high time those in positions of responsibility stopped running this country on lies.

MIXED REACTIONS AS A SUPPOSED 'OUTCAST' IS MADE KING IN IMO COMMUNITY. (SEE PHOTOS)

A man categorised as an "outcast" popularly known as 'Osu' in Igbo land, was recently appointed a king in Imo, sparking mixed feelings from internet users.

The people of Obinwanne, Umuaka, in Njaba LGA of Imo State, dealt a big blow to the OSU Caste System in Igbo land, with the coronation of HRM, Eze, Bar. Justine Uzoma Ezeala, Ezenwanne 1, of Obinwanne, Umuaka.

According to reports, Barr . Justin Uzoma Ezeala was traditionally born an Osu, but his people saw him befitting and credible to rule over them hence, they choose him to be their king.

But the report has been trailed by different reactions, with some hailing it as a good development while others have argued that an outcast is still an outcast no matter his status and will be prevented from marrying into a "normal family".

2019: WHAT I DISCUSSED WITH PRESIDENT BUHARI BEFORE JOINING THE APC – UZOR KALU

Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Uzor Orji Kalu, has revealed what he discussed with President Muhammadu Buhari before he (Kalu) joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Kalu, now a chieftain of the APC President Buhari had promised to start and complete some projects in the South East.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, the former Governor expressed gladness that Buhari has gone far in fulfilling the promises.

He wrote, “I met President @MBuhari a week before I joined the APC @OfficialAPCNg precisely on 8th of November, we catalogued the new Niger Bridge, Port Harcourt/Enugu/Umuahia Express Road; Enugu/Awka/ Onitsha Express road; Nitemile to Makurdi road.

“Okigwe/Arondizogu to road; Ohafia/Arochukwu and today they are under construction while some are nearing completion.

“I am glad that @MBuhari has resolutely pursued the completion of these and other projects across the nation.”
